seeing red

If you're confused over the next few blog posts, this happened. I dyed my hair red, simply because I could. *shrugs*

I went to a fancier salon with my boyfriend to get our hair done rather than the one I've been on since I was 14, so sadly, my new hair dresser botched my bangs. But that's okay because he gave me amazing red hair so all is forgiven.

Anyway! The boyfriend took me to the Singapore Flyer in what was supposed to be my exciting (some would say romantic; I say a bloody horrific idea of romantic) first time but it quickly spiraled into me having a terrible mental breakdown and almost crying in the middle of the capsule much to his dismay.

I was excited, really I was. The Singapore Flyer is so cool from below and I absolutely love looking at night lights, so it really seemed like it would be a great idea.

NOPE.

Don't get me wrong, I love the ferris wheel. But I love it because it's small, enclosed and I can decide who I want to go in with me so I can yell at them to sit quietly and still. My boyfriend knows I'm afraid of heights and he insisted that he'll be there so I would't be scared. Naturally, he enjoys the damsel in distress... and I'm just a mess so I agree to anything really.

The flyer was horrible for so many reasons:
  • The capsule is huge and can accommodate a hell lot of people that I don't know.
This scares the balls off me. I can't control the amount of people, I can't control the children running around, I can't control the uncles standing at the edge of the door with their faces plastered on the glass. I can't tell them what to do because I don't know them and also because the capsule is some kind of observatory where people can observe. That's the point. But it's scary because anything can happen.

What if a kid runs into the glass? What if it breaks apart? What if it tilts over? SO MANY QUESTIONS NONE OF WHICH CAN BE ANSWERED.
  • My boyfriend insists on me standing on the edge of the glass because he's "holding" me
I hate this. I hate standing at the edge of anything. I can't even look down the edge of a railing at a shopping mall because it's scary and I do it with much careful grace and judgement so that I know my glasses won't fall off my face. I am generally a paranoid 21 year old. You get it. I think.

So no I did not enjoy being held and pushed to look outside because at this very moment the outside looks a lot like my death.
  • Glass. Everywhere.
Nothing I hate more than glass everywhere. It is scary, it is not normal, I DON'T LIKE IT.
  • It goes really slow
Ok, that's the idea right? Even with the ferris wheel, it goes slowly because you want to spend time with whoever it is inside and you want to ooh and ahhh at the clouds or some romantic thing like that. NO. I couldn't get a seat. And I'm under the assumption that seating is uncool. You know what, fuck that theory. If anyone who is scared shitless wants to go up on the flyer, DO THAT. Sit your scared ass down. Enjoy the view from a distance. It's whatever ok, fuck the status quo!

STOP OPRESSING ME.

Scariest thing I've ever been on

I don't know if I took this or if this was when my paranoia kicked in and I almost mauled my boyfriend with my ipad going "TAKE A PHOTO FOR ME BUT DON'T LET GO OF ME"

The view was breathtaking from above. Of course needless to say, I wish I could have enjoyed this without wanting to shit my pants.

"I'm taking this picture... for journalistic purposes"

That was all the photos I took. My boyfriend took pictures of me looking petrified so I'm not even going to post that. Maybe I'll photoshop myself into a picture of the flyer or something like that ok?

The ride ended shortly after this, in which I asked my boyfriend "I was kinda brave huh?" I think he pitied me cos he said yes and just hugged me for good measure.

I'm sure he's glad we got in for free wtf

We went for a walk along Marina Bay Sands boardwalk after that :) It was kind of a horrible night lol but I can look back and just laugh at everything now. I'm glad that my first time up in the flyer was with my boyfriend, no matter how irresponsible that was... I could have collapsed in fear wtf

Who says you can't take artistic photos on your ipad? ;)

xoxo

i am a horrible blogger

I always use "I'm busy" as an excuse to not blog. But I recently quit my job (again, lol) and my boyfriend nagged me to update my blog since I'm not working anymore. OK LA, here you go.

I have a ton of things to blog about so here's a summary:

  1. Singapore Flyer (in which was a horrific and scary experience but bravely took photos for journalistic purposes)
  2. River Safari
  3. Buying a new iPod nano and mourning the death of my iPod touch (aka i-am-a-tech-hoarder)
  4. HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE OF LEAVING MY IPAD AT THE OFFICE ON MY LAST DAY OF WORK
  5. Book buying bans and why I need them
  6. My new (not so) tech toy: polaroid
  7. Visiting The Arts House and exploring Clarke Quay
Unfortunately, I've been a bum and have been using mostly my ipad to take photos and more recently, my polaroid camera. My boyfriend is holding my dslr captive so it's likely that the next time you see a nice landscape picture taken in beautiful quality is when he (supposedly) takes me to Gardens by the Bay.

Bye for now!

new experience

Not too long ago, I remember shaking my sleepy boyfriend awake after seeing the Arsenal banners being put up all along Orchard Road. All I remember from that vague conversation was "they're under 15" and my adamant pleas of "So? Take me!"

And so we spiraled into a long conversation about his plans for his video journalism class. So a few days ago, I got a text from him saying one of his friends bought the tickets for us. Needless to say I went by the next couple of hours in glee.

Picked the boyfriend up from campus to have lunch at KFC then headed to Bugis to watch The Hangover 3. I was kinda lost mostly cause I didn't watch Hangover 2. The movie was kinda meh anyway :(

And then........

Hello!

I looked mostly like "the unwilling girlfriend" who looks like she knows absolutely nothing but I'm really not (and probably smarter than I look). We sat around a couple of really colourful people and I must say it wasn't too pleasant of a first experience. I am appalled by children who look about 12 or so spewing vulgarities in front of adults and amongst themselves. On top of that, they were being a complete nuisance and proved to be a pain in my ass while fighting among themselves and just being noisy.

I guess at things like this you are bound to meet a bunch people like this and for the most part, it does affect my experience. It got really annoying during the first match, so much that I switched places with my boyfriend because I fear for their lives that I may just smack them all in the head with those balloon clapper things (what the hell are they called?).

After what seemed like a torturous 90 minutes during the first game (and an even more torturous half time....) MY highlight game happened.

That is all the pictures I took because A. I was busy concentrating (and told my boyfriend to keep quiet and stop talking to me ... oops! Sorry!) B. Original DSLR lens... THIS IS AS ZOOMED AS I CAN GET :(

I don't know how people blog about sports events. I'm probably not going to do any of it justice and y'all are gonna laugh at my attempt. So I'm just gonna say that I had a really good time and it was a really good game and I left feeling COMPLETELY conflicted.

I spent most of my teenage days watching football on my own and following Cesc Fabregas around like his puppy. And I spent most of my teenage days being completely dramatic whenever they lose and as time goes by.... it stops affecting you and you just accept that fourth place is as good as any other. They're cute. It's cute. My feelings are cute.

IT'S ALL CUTE.
#meltdown

(Using the picture of your eyes closed because I look prettier in this one and it's my blog so it's okay)

"Take my side profile!"

I should stop being lazy and bring my dslr out more.

Goodbye!

foreign affair

kind of really late but welcome to singapore mon!

my good buddy mon visited yuling and i in singapore from philippines while she was here to see shinee's concert! mon wanted to head over to all the hot shopping (and touristy) places in singapore so i first met up with her at bugis then we met yuling later on.

yes, from the bags you can probably tell .... i did more shopping than the tourist. lmao. but in my defense i was buying new stuff for the wedding i had to go to with my boyfriend; it was our first time attending a wedding together AND on top of that i was meeting his family for the first time. all my shopping went for a good cause!

we then headed over to the artscience museum to catch the lego exhibition (which i've seen countless times now....)! now, i took really butt awful and unclear photos in there so i'm not even going to bother with those.

of course, as good buddies do, we had a great time. sat outside asm by the benches just talking about our days and lives like we don't live in two different counties. we joked, we laughed, the girls insulted me (lol) and of course, as it turns out, mon is more of a singaporean than i am. heck, i was the tourist of the day.

mon bought me a super huge red bracelet along with my favourite noms from the ph - chippy! if you've never had one, i suggest you do. no. seriously. please. #chippyappreciationpost

singapore, you're beautiful at night. marina bay sands feels like a dream at night with all the lights, laser shows and the occasional light breeze. marina bay sands, you and i are going to always going to be bound in a relationship.

thank you for meeting yuling and i during your short trip here, mon. truly, you're one of my favourite people in the world and one of my greatest friends. i miss you and hope we meet again soon

i am not dead

...yet.

I always say I've been busy but the truth of the matter is I've just been LAZY. Things haven't changed since I last blogged. Although to be honest, I don't even remember what was the last thing I blogged out.

(Until I went to look, haha)

Since my last update I've:

  1. Extended my contract to the devil (i.e. my job that's driving me up the wall)
  2. Been scouring new jobs to gain newer and fresher experiences
  3. Been watching too much TV shows
  4. Been a bum
  5. Didn't read as much as I said I would
  6. Didn't WRITE as much as I said I would
  7. Didn't do anything productive that I said would
  8. Bought my macbook (!!!!!!!)
  9. Started school on Monday. What a drag.
  10. Bought my first ever Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume (#adult)
I guess now that I have my macbook I'm more inclined to do stuff. On the web. Simply because I find it  convenient, fast and I'm kind of obsessed with it.

My mind is running too fast. I've got too much to say yet I don't know how to say it.

I'm turning 21 soon. I've sort of changed from who I was these last couple of months. And for the first time in my life I changed for someone. Someone I care about, someone I love. I'm happy.

And for the first time in a very long time, I feel okay.
I'm okay. And everything else will be okay.

I'll upload some photos soon. I owe a lot of people a lot of pictures :X

keep on swimmin

I have no better excuse about my disappearance other than the fact that I've really been busy. Since the last time I blogged I've:

  1. Switched jobs - into something more relaxing, yet equally a pain in the ass
  2. Met the very lovely Mon who flew all the way to Singapore (to watch the SHINee concert, but I'll pretend like I was the main reason for her flight here) and met up with Yuling after what seemed like donkey years ago :)
  3. Continuously got my ass kicked in uni
  4. Went to KL with the family
  5. Celebrated half a year of being madly in love with the boy of my dreams
  6. Bought an iPad mini - I know, even I'm shocked
In a nutshell, it's been a crazy few months.

The boyfriend (who now has a wonderful stable job - proudest I've ever been) took me to RWS' aquarium for our half year. We've been listing down all the things we wanted to do together and given our previous circumstances we've never had the time or money to do so.... but hey, better late than never!

On top of that, we went shopping together and he bought me this pretty blue Baby-G watch which I've been wearing since I got it. ;______; I've been eyeing it since Soshi started endorsing it and because he gets me, he got it for me as our half year gift. Bahhhhhh, I'm getting all sappy now.

(No journey to RWS photogs this time - blogged about it here!)

Huge ass place with huge ass selection of fishes, none of which I remember the names. And so, I present to you photos with no captions and damn right you will deal with it.

Oh, and we touched a starfish!!!!
BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE

freaking cool glass panels on the floor!!!!

One of my favourite sections of the aquarium

prettiest pink fishes

The photos seem a bit lazy, having combined them and all but I took over 100 photos that day. Maybe I'll sporadically post the fish pictures but honestly, this aquarium date is the best date I've been to so far. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I love fishes. But I SO LOVE THIS DAMN AQUARIUM.

I wanna go back sometime, maybe even go look at the dolphins (is that somewhere in RWS too?)

In the meantime, the boyfriend bought surprise tickets for us to catch Incanto at RWS this Saturday! I brought it up once and he say no but I guess it all worked out in the end! (He says he forgot, but I think his subconscious mind just gets me hahahha).

The last few weeks have been extremely crazy with work, uni and trying to find time for myself and dates. I really have to give it to everyone who has been working and studying at the same time - y'all are some crazy people! These days I just find myself sipping coffee (and now Strawberry tea, lovingly bought by my boyfriend's wonderful mum) and trying to survive the day.

How in the damn hell did I make it through to March?

2013, you've outdone yourself.

PS. I still haven't uploaded the photos from KL and the time when I met Mon and Yuling. I will get to it eventually ..... (I always say that. I take it by now you know I don't really stick to my word, lol)
